Collaboration with Icelandic Printmakers
In 2007, with the support of the Arts Council of England, printmakers at The Sidney Nolan Trust have worked with Icelandic artists from the printmaking studio "Grafikvinnustofan" in Reykjavik. The artists at Grafikvinnustofan are among Iceland’s most prominent practising printmakers and have exhibited widely, both individually and as a group. Their website http://grafikvinnustofan.spaces.live.com has information on the group and examples of their work.
Both groups of printmakers produced new work for two linked exhibitions at the Sidney Nolan Trust in May/June and September 2007. The collaboration culminated with a 10 day residency at the Sidney Nolan Trust by four Icelandic artists - Anna G.Torfadóttir, Iréne Jensen, Valgerður Björnsdóttir and Kristín Pálmadóttir - during which the visiting artist ran two seminar/workshops for us and we reciprocated with several themed days of working together.
