A double exposure intaglio print from a digital photograph of the celebrated Lion Gate at ancient Mycenae in the Peloponnese, Greece.  Dating from c2000BC, the gate is thought to be the oldest monumental structure in Europe.

I exposed an inkjet transparency for 7 minutes on a sunny late Spring day, followed immediately with another  7 minute aquatint (stochastic) screen exposure.  Printed using AkuaIntaglio water-based ink.

After a short wash-out, the surface of the plate was covered with minute aquatint-like indentations.  These held far more ink than I'd expected and gave a darkish print, even after extensive wiping of the intaglio plate.  Subsequent re-examination of a test strip suggested that a longer exposure might have resulted in a lighter print.
